We are delighted to announce the 2024 Animal Rights Law Essay Competition. This year, we are inviting essays on the title:
“Whether autonomous, nonhuman animals have rights that ought to be ‘recognized by law’ is precisely the question [courts] are called upon to answer ... The immensity of that question does not place it exclusively within the domain of the legislature”. Discuss.
The Competition is open to both secondary school students and university students (and graduates). Prizes of up to £750 may be awarded in the university category, and commendations and school prizes may be awarded in the secondary school category. The deadline for essays is 4 March 2024.
