The Cambridge Centre for Animal Rights Law is delighted to announce the European Animal Rights Law Conference 2022. The Conference will take place from 17-18th September 2022 at St Edmund's College, Cambridge. The event will bring together leading academics from the UK, Germany, Italy, Finland, Belgium, France, and the US. The keynote addresses will be delivered by Dr Richard Ryder (RSPCA) and Professor Justin Marceau (University of Denver Sturm College of Law). Call for applications for Visiting Researchers and Visiting Fellows
Our Centre invites applications for Visiting Researchers and Visiting Fellows to the Centre for an 8-week research visit during Cambridge University Lent Term (17 January – 17 March 2023). Funding is available up to £2,000 for Visiting Researchers and £3,000 for Visiting Fellows to reimburse the costs of accommodation and travel. The deadline for applications is 15 August 2022. Talking Animals, Law & Philosophy Term Card
We are delighted to release the Easter Term card of the Talking Animals, Law & Philosophy series. Delcianna Winders (Vermont) and Elan Abrell (NYU) will kick off the term with a presentation on “Slaughterhouse Workers, Animals, and the Environment” (10 May). This will be followed by a talk on “The Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022: Stating the Obvious or an Obvious Step up?” by Paula Sparks (ALAW) on 23 May. Finally, on a date that will be announced soon, Justin Marceau (Denver) and Lori Gruen (Wesleyan) will launch their book “Carceral Logics” (CUP 2022) in our series.
